It really inspired me, supporting to polish my style. Those are Tori Amos “Little Earthquakes” and “Under the Pink” visuals – booklet photos and videos (made by Cindy Palmano).
I think they came at the same time as I was finding the way to express my moods and atmospheres, which are a bit similar in those Tori Amos material – feeling of lightness, joy, naive simplicity, neutrality and a little of playfulness. There I find a good kind of synthesis: fine art minimalism with impresionistic feel, finalized by a touch of personality.
Adding from WhiteCoastArt perspective..: thoughtful and wet lightness.. something that I feel laying on damp sand on the sea coast at the evening sky, when the group of seagulls fly home staring at that strange alone object.. Another way of characterizing that layer – it has no sexuality, it’s plane in that field, has it’s own mental space.
Looking at Tori Amos videos – it’s easy to tell they are not made by filmmaker, but by photographer/designer – they are clean and stark, not overpowered – maximum result is achieved with minimal means. They are first’s videos made by Cindy Palmano.
Sometimes it’s called “prop-styling”:
